Project Lazarus ZOMBIES Frostbite and the Ray Gun

How the two Mystery Box wonder weapons actually kill after round 20, and when to burn the box.

Wonder Weapons

Project Lazarus ZOMBIES has two real wonder weapons: Frostbite and the Ray Gun. Both come only from the Mystery Box at 950 points. Neither is a wall buy. Neither is a game-pass exclusive. There are still no codes that spawn them. You chase them, Pack-a-Punch them for 5,000, and you train with them. Everything else in the weapon pool is a farming tool or a Mule Kick dump gun.

This page is the system math. Letter grades live on the weapons tier list. How to light the machine is How to Pack-a-Punch. How to walk a circle with the gun is how to train.

Frostbite — the ice revolver

Frostbite is a semi-auto endothermic revolver. Direct shots deal 50% of the target’s current health and therefore never kill on their own. After a 1.2-second delay the impact sphere freezes and detonates. The ice explosion deals 2400 base plus 60% of the zombie’s maximum health. An explosion alone one-shots through round 28. After that you need two explosions, unless the same zombie ate both the ray and the blast — that combo always kills, any round.

Zombies in the frost zone slow from 5% to 95% as the temperature drops. That is why Frostbite is a chokepoint gun on Research: freeze the metal-detector door, swap, or walk. Direct-shot slow plus delayed boom is also why you aim at the floor of a surround, not a single skull, when you get pinched.

Box odds. Frostbite is not in the Mystery Box on rounds 1–5. From 6 to 10 it has about a 15% chance to be included in that spin’s pool. From 11 on, 20% inclusion, which still makes it roughly five times rarer than a normal box gun. Burning the box (repeat 950 spins) is the high-round plan. A Joker refunds 950 and moves the crate.

Pack-a-Punch turns Frostbite into Absolute Zero. Community notes treat packed Frostbite as the insta-kill train gun for extremely long rounds. Magazine is six shots; Max Ammo is life. Reload before you grab the drop.

Ray Gun — splash that scales

The Ray Gun is the classic wonder pistol: slow projectile, splash, hungry for Max Ammo. Early and mid rounds it deletes groups. After round 20 it often takes two shots unless you packed it. Packed it becomes Iscariot’s Kiss, which adds 25% of the target’s max HP as bonus splash. That bonus scales as rounds climb, which is why packed Ray stays relevant when wall SMGs bounce.

Splash is also why you do not fire Ray into a revive. You will down the medic. Aim at the floor behind the horde, not through a teammate.

Ray can appear from round 1. If you hit it on round 3, keep it, but do not dump Max Ammo into it while knives still print 130 points. Save the ammo for the teens.

Burning the box without going broke

  1. Power on. Perks at least Juggernog if the lobby is past round 8.
  2. Wall gun in the pocket so a Joker does not leave you with the M9.
  3. Spin at 950. Teddy/Joker: take the refund, follow the new box.
  4. Skip launchers unless you already have a wonder in the other slot.
  5. First Frostbite or Ray is the keeper. Punch it. Second wonder goes in Mule Kick if you have 4,000.

Do not burn the box on rounds 1–5 if you specifically want Frostbite. You are paying 950 to roll a pool that cannot contain it.

Tactics that actually show up in lobbies

Frostbite freeze can transfer kills onto Pack-a-Punched guns whose modules charge on kills (AK line, some snipers) if you swap before the ice breaks. It does not work on modules that demand headshots. Treat that as a bonus, not a reason to skip Double Tap.

If you have Ray but not Frostbite, keep spinning until the early 30s if the train is stable. If you have neither, a packed shotgun or sniper from the loadouts page plus a wide Graduation library loop still reaches 50. Wonder weapons make the ultra honest; they are not the only path.

Game passes add Glocks, AKs, and M16s. They do not add a third wonder. The easter eggs Maverick is a toy, not a replacement Frostbite. Farm points on the points sheet, punch on the machine page, and put the ice or the splash back into the train before the 24-zombie cap fills the closet you were celebrating in.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for perks, Mystery Box pulls, and high-round survival.

Can Frostbite appear on round 1?

No. It is excluded from the box on rounds 1–5. Spin later. Odds notes are on this page and weapons and Mystery Box.

Does a Frostbite direct shot kill?

Never by itself — it deals 50% current health. The delayed ice explosion is the kill. Ray plus explosion always kills.

What are the Pack-a-Punch names?

Frostbite becomes Absolute Zero. The Ray Gun becomes Iscariot's Kiss. Punch steps: How to Pack-a-Punch.

Is the Maverick a wonder weapon?

No. It is an Easter egg foam blaster. See easter eggs.

Do I need a game pass for Frostbite?

No. Both wonders are in the free box pool. Passes add other guns. Game passes.
